You know, I like him.
I didn't know he was coming out (made an incorrect assumption) so I had to go back and watch him recently (It was the KST game so I had a lot to look at) and I see him fitting well with what we do ... reminds me of the other old Tex fella who went in the 3rd Jamaal Charles.
I think you're looking at 4.55 40 but a better long and high jump.
I think he's a better back than he'll test out as, which will make him drop in the draft.
But given the lack of talent at the position I can't help but think he'll still go earlier than that. Top of the 3rd end of the second as teams reach.
That said, we trade down and pick up an extra 3rd? He slides? Then I'm considering it, but it's still unlikely to be better value than where we could get Schrader or Emani Bailey in the 5th.
I also don't think he had as much proficiency in the passing game, which again puts him as less valuable for us.
I think Schrader will test slow ... and fall in the draft due to that and age and wear and tear ... but betting against him is simply not smart. IMO he's a bigger Ekeler. Much bigger. Takes angles that make him a larger object to tackle. Pretty artful.
Bailey may run really well and climb out of range. 4.40 at 208 is not to be scoffed at.
Brooks I think will make someone happy, and be better as a two down back for his first couple years at least. I doubt it's us. He's smooth through the hole and has more power upon impact than expected (most backs have to explode into a player to have impact, he just brings it without extra effort)
Another is Marshawn Lloyd, I think he runs slow and might fall to us in the 5th. He showed better pass proficiency at the Senior Bowl. If he runs 4.50 he's gone ... if he runs 4.60 he's likely there.
