Yup - that's correct.

If the Rams cut Boom and designate it a post-June 1 cut only this year's dead money ($5M) goes against this years cap and the remainder ($10M) goes against the 2025 cap. That clears $15M in cap space this year but costs them $10M in cap space next year. (Kind of like getting an interest free $10M loan in my mind.)

The Rams save $5M either way, it's just a matter of when they want the cap space more.
