Was he better than Rypien? Absolutely! But that is a REALLY low bar to hurdle.
I love the guy for leading us to a win over San Fran and he did a lot of good in that game. But he also ran 17 TIMES!
If you need a guy for 1-2 games, then great, bring him on. He brings that running ability, which no one prepares for when they are prepping for Stafford. But if you need him for more than that, and that is how he plays every game, he will be lucky to last 3 games. Then he gets hurt and we are down to whatever is behind him, which may be Rypien-level or worse.
To me, Wentz is a high ceiling, low floor dude that may only buy you a few games. I guess for the right price, I would take that, but I'd rather have a higher floor, lower ceiling guy who will last longer.
I mean, there is a reason he was on his couch when we called, right?
