I think the erosion they're beginning to experience will last for a long time. A little confusion here, a little dissention there, a bit of disillusionment somewhere else - enough to have a prima donna player want out - and they're barely seventy-two hours into the offseason. Already it's not looking good.
Shanny will try to rally, try to mend the broken fences, and he may succeed - but that's a tough job, even if you're not faced with the organizational challenges that he's faced with. This is not his finest hour. If what we're seeing not is the best of what he's got deep inside, I don't think he's up to it. At least not now.
McVay, young as he was at the time, could at least maintain order after a Super Bowl loss. And after the perfect storm of disasters that was 2022, dug deep, regathered himself and the pulled his team around him.
We'll see if Shanny has it in him to do that - but right now, it looks like Kittle and Purdy have more of the right stuff than their coach does.
