We know McVay trends towards impatience—don’t we all. But at times he looked like he was chomping at the bit on the sidelines during some of those long drives against his D.
I think with Shula he’ll have more game management input than he did with Raheem. I think he let Morris do his thing. So, we might see more pressures from the D. But the advantage is the long time these guys have had on the Rams and all the things they’ve seen that work and what hasn’t. There’s a symbiosis which I don’t think you see much in an HC and DC.
This is wishful thinking since Raheem never got to "do his thing", Raheem was informed if he wanted the DC position they would be playing this form of defense, which he did. So now under Shula we will get even more of what McVay wants from a defense. This whole Morris wanted the Fangio soft zone and McVay just allowed him to do it isn't what happened at all. The Rams defense post Wade is the defense that McVay has wanted period. He brought in a top disciple of it and has kept it even after that disciple left.
