I wanted to see a D that ate up passes, and took out aspects of the field. Shula being chosen looks right off as an ongoing bend don't break style. The main part of that is the "it looks like" issue and really I don't feel like that is fair to do. He has been around since 2017 so he has had his nose in pretty much all layers of the D. That can mean he has seen the Wade/Staley/Morris D and over that time has in his mind seen ways to play off those ideas, or do what he thinks would improve the issues with those D's.
I just want to see a D that can get off the field, not allow so many 3rd and longs, and mostly see a D that causes more turn overs...IMO you don't do that by playing off coverage and hope for tips to get an INT, force the play, attack the ball. Fight that middle of the field, don't let receivers run free off the line.....and please stop the Hoecht pass coverage unit from getting on the field...
I see nothing out of these wants that screams "Shula can't do this!"
