As a musician... if you get one sided feedback from a Master Guitarist without the Master hearing your side at all. Example, what your comfort zone is, how you like to do things etc..... then you are getting help, but not maximizing the full help you could potentially get. Good teachers will mold with what your strengths and weaknesses are.. and that hopefully requires dialogue between the two.
So using your analogy, what is missing is the dialogue between Warner and Goff to make this 10x more helpful.
