Here's the issue as I see it: who was Jones going to get that's any better than what he already has?
The idea that he could get Bellicheck is a non-starter. Bellicheck requires a hands-off owner and Jones is anything but that.
And, so, who would be left that might be an upgrade? Would Jones consider Pete Carroll? I doubt it. The guy is in his 70's and he too would not want a controlling owner. Harbaugh? Never in a million years. No way Harbaugh and Jones can be in the same organization. Outside of those 3, there is no one else that clearly is a plug-in difference making HC. Only some wanna be HC's that are currently OCs and DCs and who knows how it might turn out for them.
Much to my surprise, Jones seems to be making a pretty pragmatic choice in keeping McCarthy. Which is good news for the rest of the NFC because I believe what we see in the Cowboys will be their fate every year. They are built to win in the regular season, but not in the post season.
