Sad, very deeply sad, to say that it's now endemic to the culture.
Can't single the Detroit fans out for blame. When Stafford came out of the tent and re-entered the game, some of those Detroit fans greted him with quiet cheers and applause. They'd seen that same courage before and respected it. I heard no boos, then.
Kelly turns the pre-game incident into a teaching moment for the girls. They will absorb her strength, grow in her sweetness, be inspired by her fire. Daddy will be their strong foundation and model for what a loving husband and father looks like, feels like, and lives like.
"Please don't get tackled, daddy!" one of them said before another game. I wonder if they cried again as daddy came off th field in obvious pain, his hand pulled tight against his chest. I wonder what they felt when he came out of the tent and went right on throwing incedible passes. What an inspiration to grow up with!
I'm sure they'd love coming to Montana and going camping, playing at the lake, fishing in the stream, running through the woods, roasting marshmallows on sticks they gathered themselves and eating s'mores they made themselves with my youngest granddaughter Ellia (about their age, long blonde hair, captivating blue eyes, full of life and love and an animated spirit) and her family.
No doubt Ellia, whose daddy was a Marine combat pilot, and the Stafford girls will marry well.
