NFL has put so many restrictions on practice time and being on the field only a certain amount of hours each week, it has caused poor tackling in the league.
Not many players WRAP UP anymore, and when they do, they get a flag for helmet to helmet contact.
Tackling drills are a thing of the past on the field with live hitting, why? NFL coaches can't waste on field time teaching tackling, they need to get the game plan in.
Now, DB's just undercut players in the open field....It's all they do.....Thus, injuries like these will happen until the NFL forces players to wrap up and "stay high" on tackles.....But, a 180lb DB can't bring down a 255lb TE unless they can go back to wrap up, head up and facemask to facemask tackles.
IMHO.....I prefer the NFL allow defensive players more leeway and allow them to play and be allowed the chance to be aggressive, but the NFL likes the offense scoring points.....So, the poor tackling will continue, the lack of practice time will continue, why?
NFLPA, NFL likes the scoring.....Simple....And, with player safety a #1 priority, we have to understand that tackling will not be practiced enough.
