I have assumed they would just cut Noteboom and Allen at the beginning of the offseason. And I think that's still likely, in part to do right by the player and allow them a chance to find a home elsewhere. And also because they can operate for 2024 with the lesser cap savings (while also not spreading anything out further to 2025, etc.).
But here's a thought. What if one was designated as a post-June 1 release- say Noteboom- with an eye on using some of the money to extend Earnest Jones during camp? They have done veteran extensions like that before and he's absolutely deserving. Lock him up through 2028.
Anyway, just a thought as to why they might consider releasing Noteboom and or Allen later on. They want that cap savings and yet also don't need it day one in March to make the moves they'd want to make.
