The advantages I see of running those 12 personnel plays out of 11 personnel:
1.) You don't give it away that you're going to run the ball. Take a WR off the field and bring in a TE you kind of signal the run. Staying in 11 personnel gives the defense way more to think about.
2.) If the Rams take out a WR and bring in a TE the defense responds by taking out a CB and bringing in a 250 pound run stuffing LB. The Rams have an advantage when Kupp or Nacua or Robinson are blocking a CB. And they are probably at a disadvantage with Davis Allen blocking a 250 pound LB. So why do it?
