No need to waste bullets when they had the game in hand and Freeman being good. By the fourth I would have put him on the bench.
The Rams were up 24-8 entering the 4th quarter and only put 3 points on the board in the 3rd. The drive the Rams started in the 3rd continued into the 4th with the Rams scoring on the 5th play of the 4th quarter. (Those 5 plays, 2 carries by Williams, 2 catches by Williams, and an incomplete pass.)
The score was 31-8 then, and Williams only had one more touch after that, a run at the 9:08 mark. That was the 4th and 1 play where Williams picked up 6 yards and the 1st down. Freeman and Z.Evans split the other 7 carries after they took that 31-8 lead - 3 by Freeman (including that 23 yard TD) and the final 4 by Evans.
Williams only had 16 carries in the game, only three of them came in the 4th quarter, and none of them came after the 9:08 mark. He also chimed in with 6 catches, the final one coming with 12:41 remaining.
Receipts are much appreciated, Albany.
They didn't pull Williams at the exact second I wanted, but it was close enough. They were being good about giving him some breathing room with Freeman, even if it isn't the dual back system I see being hyped up. Been saying this whole season that we've got a quality back in Kyren - don't need to trade for a back that some have dancing in their head, just feed him and he'll perform. He's done it with every chance he's been given.
