Don't know what happened.....only part of my post went up.
My point is QBs take time to develop. It used to be that a drafted QB spent at least 2 seasons behind a starting vet. I'm not sure when it became imperative that a high 1st round QB had to start immediately. And, most of the time, its a mistake.
If the Rams had a QB that they really liked (especially with their 1st round pick), then this is the year to draft him. And then let him sit behind Stafford for a couple of seasons. It sure as heck helped Rogers and despite the inconsistent play of Love, it helped him. 2 years for guys as young as these dudes coming out takes them to another and higher level of maturity because they are around grown men, and the totally different expectations of the NFL vs. college can be internalized.
Unfortunately, because GMs and HCs are people, too, they feel the peer pressure to play 1st round players immediately. So, ideally the Rams could get a QB in round 2, and then the pressure is off player and coach.
