My take is the Rams wanted the Wolf to back up Rypien for 1 week. Chances are he'd never see the field. But if he did he would at least know the playbook.
The biggest reason the Rams wanted to sign Wolford, though, was to run the scout team in practice. He pretty much knows the Rams' practice routine and could have come in and run the scout team with minimal learning curve while Rypien got all the 1st team reps in preparation for the Packers. is there another QB out there who could do that for the Rams? I can't come up with one ...
