Coaching in the NFL is hard. So many moving parts. The only fair metric in my mind is wins and losses. McVay has done great in that department notwithstanding this downturn.
As you know, I respect and value your opinion. We just differ on that. The greatest coaches in NFL history win 2-4 championships and that metric is extremely rare. You don't @#$%& around when you got one like that. Its not the NFL, but I'm watching Bruce Bochy manage a world series team. Something he did 3 x with the SF Giants. They let him go and Bochy is back in the big show - giants haven't been back but Bochy has.
Winning it all takes someone special not just talent. The 49ers have had one of the most talented rosters in the NFL for a while, Shanahan still can't get over the hump. Its the guy that has proven he can get OVER THE HUMP that you want.
That said, I'm all for loading up draft capitol for the next big run. The new core is starting to get in place: BY, Avila, Puka, Kyren Williams, there is talent sprinkled throughout the roster but we need that long term centerpiece and that is Williams. We got our own 1 and aren't shy about trading others. Donald gets another one from a team that needs a difference maker at the wire (Dolphins, Philly?).
The thing is, I think the Rams are just the type of team to make these types of moves.
One thing I do know, we will both be there to see what happens - as all true fans are.

With the Rams defense now playing like the defense we actually expected for the last 5 Qs (that 4th Q against the horrible Steeler offense was brutal)
Stafford now hurt and no viable backup to help the Rams win a game or two
The Rams literally might not win another game.... I'm being totally serious. Also don't look now but for two weeks in a row Kupp has been completely shutdown.. 29 yards last week and 16 this week Yikes
Rams are 3-5 and melting down... getting progressively worse every week.
The Rams need a QB. Stafford is 35. The Rams have a fan issue... nobody is interested in coming to see this team as they are currently configured. Caleb Williams changes all of that. Williams puts butts in the stands. Williams appeals to young people and is a dynamic player.... he is literally OBJ but a QB and you know how the Rams were so thirsty for OBJ.
The Rams without Stafford are a 3 win team. With Stafford they were a 7 win team. McVay thinks Stafford is Rodgers and has built this offense around him. But hes not Rodgers.... and hes old and now is just banged up to all hell
Honesty I would have no problem if McVay walked away from this thing. I know some of you think hes great but I don't and more importantly than me thinking hes great or not... I think McVay is not long for this job and it shows every single week
