Perhaps (from what we hear so far) Kendricks did illegally have a gun within reach in his car.
And, I am sure that especially in a state like California it is not legal.
And, whether I agree with such a law or not, it needs to be obeyed.
But.... unless he was brandishing it, threatening, lying about it, committing some crime with the gun present, or he is already a convicted felon that is not allowed to have a gun, etc., then it sure should not amount to a felony nor anything beyond a ticket or even after an arrest, a misdemeanor charge. I mean, c'mon. He may not even have known it is illegal because where he went to school and lived it isn't.
I mean, this is the state that you can steal up to $950 worth of someone else's property and only get a ticket.
I know this is all speculation, but nothing about the report says he did anything serious. So, even though he is likely to receive some penalty from the overbearing NFL, it ought to be not more than a 1 game suspension or something like that.
Unless, of course, he did something more serious.
