Williams was averaging 4 yards a carry against Philadelphia and without those stats being inflated by a single 30 yard run. We were down three going into the 4th. As usual, McVay panicked and left something that was working- a time-worn story with him.
You give him credit for great drafting despite the fact that he had no high picks- he had no high picks because he had a hand in trading them away for the very players he bought a SB with- specifically Stafford, Miller and Beckham. Without those three, McVay doesn't have a SB ring. You don't get to give him sympathy for not having picks that HE traded, then diminish the players those picks brought and claim they didn't win a SB for him. That's having your cake and eating it too, and it's a load of BS.
Oh, and that first SB? We were there as a result of one of the most egregious missed calls in NFL history. We got there and were completely outcoached to the point of scoring the fewest points in SB history. I know, it was all Goff's fault.
Don't truly care what PFF says- quick, name all the studs drafted in McVays tenure. Don't embarrass and include Kupp- Cooper Kupp was going to be a star in this league wherever he ended up, similar to Donald. McVay did nothing to bring that talent to the surface. Name all his other draft picks from the past seven years that right now should be the bedrock foundation for this team. I've got Ernest jones as a quality NFL starter. Who you got? I've already acknowledged this year's draft as being well-done. Why don't you discuss 2020?
And those picks that we get good grades for that are currently playing for other teams? They are doing what good for us? We can't afford to keep blue chip quality players 9Johnson III, Gaines, Sebastion-Day, etc.) because McVay has had a significant hand in not only paying out a high percentage of our cap to 3-4 players, but also being part of paying hughe contracts to guys that are either no longer here or were marginal to begin with- Goff, Gurley, Allen, Noteboom, etc.
Next you're going to claim he won the Humphrey-Atwell draft prize. Whatever.
