Most have already made the case for keeping him and that’s what Rams will likely do.
But advantages this year for trading him?
Let’s see…
He’s gonna be #4 WR after Kupp returns, barring injury. As such, he’ll get few snaps if he stays, anyway.
He might fetch a player that could strengthen Rams this year at a need position such as edge, DL, ILB, or TE. An upgrade at any of those positions could boost chances for gaining a wildcard spot THIS year. A journeyman edge would seem infinitely more useful this year than VJ as a 4th WR riding the bench, don’t you think? The future is now.
Personally, I don’t share the optimism for a 5th round comp pick for VJ in 2025. I just don’t think he’s earned it and he won’t be getting much of a chance to make a strong case once Kupp returns because VJ will be riding the pine.
VJ has long since hit his ceiling, so expecting a breakout season seems like wishful thinking, imo.
Rams already have Skow, Robinson, and Trammel to fill the role of 4th WR should VJ be traded away this season, so his departure would hardly create a hole. Those 3 provide a helluva lot of WR injury insurance, I think.
