Fact is, half the starting quarterbacks in the league wouldn't be adequate backups for Matthew Stafford.

Not to obfuscate the need for a solid backup, I think Rams fans are just now beginning to realize how great Matthew Stafford is, and how great the falloff would be for any quarterback stepping in behind him.

I've admired his play since his early days with Detroit - playing with a crippled wing and in great pain - and still getting it done. He's physically gifted, generationally talented, knows the game, and as tough as they come. His "streakiness" is no doubt due to his playing hurt and not whining - not letting on. He inspires those around him to the same heights. With him, IF the injury bug stays relatively in check, we're a championship-level football team. Without him, we're less.
