To get Jonathan Taylor would be a smart move by the Rams.
You get a RB that can go the distance at any time......There's no surprises when you go shopping for an NFL Vet, you know exactly what you are getting....With Taylor you get a legit #1 RB with breakaway speed and power, and pair him up with Williams to be a very good 1-2 punch to take some pressure off Stafford.
Plus, he's got tread on his tires.....He's healthy, in his prime and ready to run.....Too many positives not to try to go get him IMHO.
I have a few questions before signing off on this hypothetical trade.
How is Taylor’s health, really? Is he 100%?
How good is he in pass pro?
How good is he as a receiver out of the backfield?
How much, exactly, will he cost in draft picks?
And last, but by no means least, how much would a contract extension for Taylor cost the Rams right now? Because I don’t think Rams would execute this trade without an agreed upon extension.
Depending on all 5 of the above, a hypothetical Taylor trade could be good value or could be downright foolish and contrary to current Ram cap strategy.
IOW, there are at least 5 moving parts to this decision.
