For months this board constantly and intelligently discussed how we need to keep our expectations low this year because the Rams are retooling. Getting rid of high priced players, unloading salary cap, freeing up a ton of cap space for next year, hanging on to our high picks for next year, and developing a LOT of young players this year, etc.
The goal is not to lose; but rather to develop and let the wins come as they may.
Now that the season arrives, it is as though none of this has been made clear. As though somehow the Rams have screwed up and the year will be a "disaster". What will be a disaster is not a losing record, but rather if they're draft picks and 2nd year guys don't develop to be much better in game 17 than in game 1.
I'm going to have a lot of fun watching this year NOT in anticipation of wins, but to see who among the young talent develops and separates themselves.
Next year is a whole different story. The Rams have made it explicitly, abundantly clear that the plan points to 2024 as about getting back to the playoffs and the Superbowl.....certainly not 2023.
Just relax, enjoy, and let it happen.
