Which leads us into the low-hanging fruit…KBM/sports-bar depth conversation about blank them picks…
F-Them picks was cool, chic, hip, and “so now”…until about this point last season…and then Logan Bruss, Brian Allen, Coleman Shelton, David Edwards, Joe Noteboom, Tremayne Anchrum, Alaric Jackson…all got hurt
But none of those guys were first round picks.
And then, suddenly, F-Them picks sounds stupid…and
“the bill’s going to come due”…but the trading away of previous picks was completely unconnected to the offensive line collapse a year ago.
The railing against the F-Them picks sounds eerily similar to the push back toward analytics in baseball…How dow you go to the Super Bowl twice, win once, stay in contention 5 of 6 seasons without a first round draft pick from… 2017-2022 (I know we didn’t have one in 2023, but keeping in context of 2022)…that’s a paradigm shift…That’s a different way of thinking…a game changer.
So the shallow KBM (Kiss Butt Media) jumps on the bandwagon during a historic, off the charts, injury epidemic along the offensive line and claim that it is has everything to do with F-Them picks…
Rams were 5-12…last season.
They should have beat the Cardinals at Sofi—6-11
They should have beat the Saints—7-10
They had the Buccaneers beat—8-9
And they should have beat the Seahawks at least once. (Losing two games by a combined 7-points)—9-8
That’s 9-8…2022 had nothing to do with the absence of first round picks…
And if there is struggle this year…if anything…it’s because they closed the window—I think (my opinion)—a year too soon instead of playing out the string with the team they had.
But McSnead made the call…the departures hurt, but a new season heals all…and I’m still all in on F-Them picks…when you consistently hit on Skowronek’s, Earnest Jones, Jordan Fuller, and UDFA’s like Alaric Jackson and Coleman Shelton…you can do a whole lot.
