Maybe Ingram or one of the others mentioned is still available and they don't have to guarantee the contract. At that point - asking price is likely lower. If it's like the Clowney contract I think we could manage that and still have a little wiggle room for this year. And, of course, it would be a one year deal. It would be easy to slide someone like Hampton through waivers and onto the PS.
I can see their reasoning though in not bringing someone in. If we are setting our sights on '24 - why not give all the young guys a shot week in and week out - see if any of them are worth holding onto next year. But for me - I want them to be competitive in '23. The NFC is not the AFC. An experienced edge rusher could tutor the young guys and maybe make an impact on passing downs. At least eat double teams along with Donald. Not thrilled about sitting through a year long science experiment.
Or...since the 9'ers don't have any picks for the next 15 years - we could offer some #1's for Bosa and go back to f them picks - it worked once, didn't it?
