those guys were not stars but could actually rush the passer and also, in a 4-man rush, watch for pass action
runs... i.e. rush two gaps
Gaines didn't have the quickness or length to do that.
Brown III does...
Now I am not saying he WILL do those things. Only that based on size, and college success he has the ability
to be more than a nose tackle...
This preseason we will get a chance to see what he and Brown IV and the rookies can do ... and like it or not
this group is an athletic upgrade from the past. Not a size upgrade in terms of A'shawn but he only played
all out part of the time... and was awful pass rusher.
Lumps? Yes, expect plenty of them. But what they were in the past does not mean that is what they will be
in the future...players CAN get better. Not always but to write people off before you've seen them
really isn't fair analysis.
