He could be destined to be a utility backup - hopefully a better one than Bobby Evans - hopefully as a valuable fill-in placeholder where needed, who won't make major mistakes. Unlike Avila, he doesn't have full-time starter written all over him.
He's now being evaluated by a new offenslve line coach, who is coming in with fresh eyes, untainted by the pipedream visions of last year's splash. Under his watch the starting five is coming together quickly and will have that much more time to gel as a unit.
I think this unit will surprise.
