There are a lot of ex-jocks whose experience in the game is all they bring to their media jobs. They're lazy, spout cliches and do little homework.
Intelligent information is what Jourdan delivers. She gathers facts from coaches and players and also from her own observations and then writes it skilfully.
In that writing is going to be some opinions and interpretations of those facts, her opinions as to what those facts mean.
These fan sites don't gather the facts very often. Sometimes they do, so I am not going to throw to baby out with the bathwater. They do read Twitter and
other websites and interpret things there. Other times no so much, they get paid by the click so the do things to get reactions -- "clickbait"
There is room for both. But if you want opinions grounded in truth then Jourdan is the best person covering the Rams.
As for ex-jocks, I like them most of the time...but as you point out they are not always doing their homework on current things. It it's Rams-related then
D'Marco Farr is always going to be great source. However, there are others who don't follow Rams--that miss the boat on things...
As far as the players, though I listen as much as I have time for there is a lot to be learned in general.
There is room for both but Jourdan knows football better than most media---and I am excluding non ex-player media ... I'd trust her more on Xs and Os than a Rich Eisen or Skip or all those guys ... Cowherd.
If people don't like her, that's their right. But to say they can listen to her and not learn is head-scratching. And to go after her because she's a woman is doubly so.
