Gaines was a good NT who could provide a tad bit of pressure on pass rush. It absolutely matters who replaces him.
He was a good hard working dude with a great attitude and endless effort.
It "does" matter who replaces him but do we have "one guy" that is as good as Gaines was? I am not so sure we do.
I think we will see a rotation of guys at the position. I think Morris and his staff will be watching these kids very closely to see who has that "it" factor like Gaines had.
So, I agree . It does matter and it might take more than one guy to replace Gaines's talent. Maybe one or two of our rookies will step up and stand out as the season goes on.
That's why a good scheme will go along way in finding out if we have someone that is capable of replacing Gaines.
I think Morris will be able to get the kids to play well against the run. I am hoping we can see if anyone can provide some consistent pressure on the QB on passing downs too.
Gaines was able to do both.
#HelmetHornsMatter
“Well, the color is good, I like the metallic blue,” Youngblood recently said while laughing, via NFL Journal. “The horn is terrible. It looks like a ‘C.’ When I first saw it on the logo I honestly thought it was a Charger logo.
“Now when I see it on the helmet, it just isn’t a ram horn. There is no distinct curl like a mature ram horn. I don’t know how the Rams could get that wrong. That is your symbol and it has been for what? Seventy years or more? Longer than I have been alive? It’s just not us, it’s not the Rams.”---Mr. Ram Jack Youngblood
