Soft zone is safe, doesn't give up big plays, and isn't dependent on line-linebacker performance.
If the rushers can disrupt the quarterback, make him hurry his thows, I'd look for more aggressive corner play PD's and picks. We'll see if we get it - and what Morris does with it.
Without a rush the DB's are compromised. Morris will do what the analytics show works best for not giving up points. That means fewer interceptions, longer drives against our D if we're playing without steady pressure from the rush.
It'll be interesting to see how the rushers pan out in camp. And from there, it'll be interesting to see if Morris changes the D and how. Without getting into the weeds of the system and whose idea it is to run it, I'll be real interested to see what changes in our edge and interior DL are in place by September. DB play rests on that. Morris has lots of pieces on the board that need to be developed.
