Excellent fun reading, LMU
If there was a stunned person on the board with the first selection? It was me.
I should feel more elated
4 months ago I was beating the table for the Minnesota offensive lineman
As happens so often, the talented ball handlers are distracting.
Felt very validated, for instance, when Kincaid was snapped up in the 1st round. For me, he was the most impressive of the TEs.
Distracted...yeah....
Back to Avila
The thing about him might be the remarks by his head coach. Sonny Dykes has my respect. My son was dating a girl at SMU where Dykes was head coach. SMU had a superb year, spending much of it leading the way reaching 7-0 record before stumbling. Clearly, Dykes can coach. TCU came in and snagged him up. The reason I bring him up is that Dykes was super positive about Steve. When things weren't going right for the club the guy in the locker room that stood and led the guys was Avila.
There's a lot more than just the game on the field to admire about the cat. I prefer smart OL guys over just the brawn. If you can lead your team mates when chips are down? Your more than just a body.
Agree very much that Young should get significant opportunities to join in the rotation. If he shows well enough in camp they may even hold him out with the rest of the starters during exhibition ball.
Couldn't agree more on the loss for words on Turner. They certainly need some beef, and relief inside for AD. Well....he's a body. Did I say I miss Gaines?
I hope, not sure, that Zach Evans will be something to admire
And Nacua? Well, we've heard about injuries, but I am more interested to see playbook execution.
With so many bodies I haven't a clue...
