32. Pitt - They either trade out (Levis) or more likely they stay put and take Porter Jr., its a need, its a fit. It makes too much sense.
33. Arizona - They may or may not need a WR, they need a QB, they need a ILB. They could just about go anywhere. They need a CB. Cam Smith
34. Det - THey need a DE, CB and TE. THis could be Mayer, White or Ringo. I'll go with Keion White at DE.
35. Indy - They need a CB/S/OL - I think this is the absolute floor for Branch. Seems like too good to pass up situation.
So that leaves the Rams with:
2 OCs, 2 OGs and 2 OTs (Tippmann & Schmitz, Torrence and Mauch, Bergeron and Duncan)
3 CBs - Phillips, Ringo and Turner
5 EDGE - Adebawore, Tuipulotu, Foskey, Hall, Ojulari
3 TEs - Mayer, Musgrave and Washington
2 WR - Hyatt and Downs
Thats 19 guys that IMO would all be great picks. I'm obviously trading down unless you cannot find a partner or Branch and /or Porter Jr is sitting there.
It really feels like Adebawore is their guy. I don't think they are leaning OL. Same with TE. I think Hall and Tuipulotu are also in the mix. Musgrave, Hyatt and Downs are also really making these guys think hard about a O Weapon.
Thoughts?
First off of the WR options I'm of the mind that Hyatt is a cut above Downs. They're close, I agree, but for me Hyatt gets crazy open a lot, and I think some of it is scheme but it is him too. Whereas Downs sort of gets lost in the wash, though he does know how to hit daylight and go. With Hyatt my term is whack-a-mole because it's like "pop" he's appearing somewhere and I have to go back and see how he appeared that open, the guy is sneaky. So if McVay insists on wideout here he is my guess.
If Branch or Porter are at 36 btw I figure they get taken, in that order. Because Branch slides in day one and makes our defense better in the slot, allowing Durant to move outside. Porter probably helps us more, in that the outside the hash corner is more valuable and lets them take a look at Kendrick in the slot where he should be. But Branch is the better player IMO.
Reason I like Tuli so much is his short area quickness on top of his physicality. AA is a better athlete but in traffic and reaction Tuli seems like he makes more plays. But I agree these guys are in consideration if they're concerned with getting more physical up front which they should be.
But back to OL it sure does feel like there's a bunch of different ways to go up front if they want. There's two Centers that I like very much. But Rams are probably thinking Allen might get through the season so maybe they want a mover at OG instead. Well there's options there too. Also of late as I go back and watch the linemen Mauch sure is a heck of a mover. Do they want that? Or do they want the physicality of Torrence, who was graded by some as round 1 and they interviewed. Could be that Torrence is the guy.
Lastly TE gotta say that I'd rather have Kraft than Mayer. And I'd rather have LaPorta than any of the rest. Musgrave had the injury and he's only good for stretching seams deep, which McVay probably wants. But I'd rather have potency underneath and another open option for quick dumpoffs for 9.
I keep asking myself "what happens if we lose Kupp again." The answer seems to be that a depth slot would be wise. So a wideout would potentially fill that but so would LaPorta. Kupp is very TE like too btw. So of all the options he feels like the most appropriate backup to that possession function. Big target, good hands, shakes underneath, smart and dependable. What I don't know is if the rumors of LaPorta's medical being a question are correct.
