Because if he stays at 36, the Rams may not need to tank this season to get a franchise QB.
Hooker could be that guy, but Levis isn’t coming off an ACL tear and is much younger.
For the Rams marketing, this is good news. The Rams brain trust might be able to stomach a down year, but cementing Sofi as Rams’ House and putting the Rams in the LA competitive sports teams conversation will take away some steam with a tank season.
There’s no guarantee C. Williams or J. Maye will fall into the Rams’ lap in 2024.
McVay doesn’t have to take a hit to his winning percentage should the Rams tank 2023.
McVay hates losing and now he won’t be forced to assuming tanking was in the works.
However, there are a ton of holes in this roster. You can’t trade down and expect Levis will be ther at like pick #40. So, you’re stuck with not playing your ace in the hole— pick #36–to pick up more draft capital between 45-125.
So, lots to think about. What to do? What to do?
If Rams want a developmental QB, that’s fine by me.
But why not take him on Day 3? This Tune kid is intriguing, for example, but there are others.
But can we not all agree that ANY QB drafted by Rams is gonna sit for 2 years, maybe more? Barring catastrophic injury to Stafford?
Don’t overthink this. Take an immediate starter at one of Rams numerous positions of need and move on to pick 69.
