he and his guys did the evals, then Klosterman
took it from there.
Steve, as you pointed out, was the team president and
involved with everything - I guess.
He had to be, he was being groomed to be the owner
someday
In 1979 Steve Rosenbloom took over after Carroll Rosenbloom's death and replaced Klosterman with Dick Steinberg. A few months after that, Georgia with John Shaw in her ear, fired her stepson Steve and Steinberg and replaced them with bringing Klosterman back. The plan was for Steve to run the team upon the death of CR, however, Shaw gave Georgia other ideas as Georgia decided she was going to be more involved besides name only, which was the plan that Carroll Rosenbloom wanted and only left the team to Georgia because of the inheritance tax.
I always wondered what would have happened if Steve Rosenbloom ran things, he & Steinberg resurfaced in New Orleans for one year in 1980, but that was a disaster and both of them were replaced the following year by Bum Phillips.
was work product of Steinberg's group----they did the identifying of Bru, Cromwell, etc...
Klosterman wasn't scouting, he was making the final calls in 1977-79, etc . . . after CR died it went down like that but Steinberg did the scouting, he was the kind of in the Brad Holmes of that era to Klosterman's Snead role
