Maybe who they took in 2nd round was the best
player available . . . but he was an injury risk.
Bad back in college. Then hurt his back in the NFL.
I wonder what we'd be saying if Holmes was here
rather than Snead and he picked a guy with a bad
back and then that guy hurt his back.
He might not get praised.
Why not Creed?
Because they had a 24-25-year-old Pro Bowl center.
I guess we can believe that they had the guy with the bad
back higher on their board than Creed.
We don't know.
But it's only fair to ask questions of Holmes when it looks
like he went for need.
What was one of the biggest needs that year? Tackle--what did they get?
Tackle.
To be fair they had a lot of needs---but Micah Parsons was on the board
and Surtain.
Their right tackle in 2020 was Tyrell Crosby and one of their DTs was John Penisini.
They go tackle and DT one and two.
If Snead did that we'd accuse him of going for need.
In 2022--it is plausible that Hutch was #1 on their board. It was also a huge need
but giving him the benefit of the doubt.
They need weapons and they go WR . . . I guess he was BPA, let's say he
was. If SNead picked a guy #1 and he had a rookie year like that---
we'd be impatient.
he will maybe be very good--but he's not off to great start.
then 2nd round--lack of pass rush was a huge need, they go
DE #1A and #2...
Coincidence?
I guess so.
