I don't want to see the Rams one dimensional w/ a 35-year-old QB

April 09, 2023 08:33PM
I miss having a franchise back. Yes, the position has been devalued. If you have a Mike Shanahan zone blocking scheme you can find running back by committee backs late in the draft. Can you count on finding speed, power, workhorse toughness and durability in a late pick RB? The Rams have not been able to find one since 2019.

I don't want to see the Rams one dimensional with a 35-year-old QB coming off a spinal cord contusion and chronic right elbow pain with a 50-mil cap number for 2024, carrying 37mil in dead money if he is cut. [overthecap.com] That scenario is defensive coordinator's dream. Run teams out of these umbrella coverages and DB heavy packages. Keep Stafford protected for 2 years and develop his successor.

It would be great to have an elite back again. The Rams need a threatening offense. It looks like two of the top three picks could be CB and Edge. One of those top three picks should be on offense. A skill position is needed. If it is Hendon Hooker, Zach Charbonnet, Jahmyr Gibbs, Sam LaPorta, Luke Musgrave, Jalin Hyatt it would be a valuable addition.
