Why do football fans devalue defensive players? Fans think that playing defense does not require talent.
Offenses are allowed to build offensive lines to protect the likes of Josh Allen and Pat Mahomes, isn't that right?
A quarterback loses a Super Bowl, and it's because "his whole starting offensive line was out!" Am I right?
Quarter backs "need a number one receiver", right? That's all we ever hear from defenders of Lamar Jackson even though he chokes if he somehow manages to get the Ravens near a playoff game. Yet, he's defended in earnest. Why is that?
But, a cornerback is "trash" because he gets beat in coverage because there is no pressure on the QB.
Or a coach is supposed to be judged by how a defense composed of dollar-store free agents, and throw-away draft picks performs under his coaching.
Would we judge McVay without Matthew Stafford, Cooper Kupp, and the availability of quality starters on the offensive line?
Defense is just tackling anyway?
The entire notion is childish.
