I would have made Mahomes run. Don't care if he gave up yards.. just more chances to tackle him and make him more gimpy.
Problem is.. Eagles front 4 got little pressure on him.

Everyone will pick on the defense and say.. should have ran this, should have ran that.
But if you get little pressure and you aren't used to getting little pressure, it really changes the game.

Again, I haven't seen Philly all year.. but doesn't seem to be much disguise in the D either. Or, could be that Reid just flushes out what the Defense is with all the motion they run. Anyway, not that Mahomes isn't good at different D looks... actually the worst 2 in the league against disguised coverage is Jimmy G and Matthew Stafford. This was the 2021 season. Makes sense for Jimmy G and why he's good against the Rams. But Matt Stafford being one of the worst at this as well makes you wonder.

In 2021 the defense that worked best was the shell zones...Mahomes talked about it, but in 2022 it reversed and they did more man, and early in the year it worked...I have not checked the numbers or if they are available, but I bet Mahomes began to beat the man stuff later in the year...and that is where
the 29 TDs vs man came from (#1 in NFL) and then the 3 vs the Eagles in Super Bowl . . .

Another measure is expected points added and Mahomes ranks No. 1 in EPA/play against man coverage, zone, blitzes, no blitzes, and two-high - and no. 2 in single-high coverages - so almost everything. so whatever issues he had early, I think evened out.

There is disguise in the Fangio scheme, they just start with the Cov-2/4 shell. Then, they can rotate to anything, Cover-1, stay in cover-2 or 4, rotate to cover-3 with one of the safeties going shallow and one to the middle of the field. By never tipping their hand, they are disguising.

Anyway, because if what you say, the 2022 "book" is even though he's first in man and single highs, the numbers are better vs zone than man ... and Eagle plays a lot of agressive tight man in 2nd half and Mahomes beat them, like he did in 2018-2021 . . . 2022 was a bit of an anomoly.
