Two things.
First, can we agree that there are now ‘two Sean McVays’? There’s the 2017-2021 version and now there’s the 2022 version. The first version was a supernova of innovation and accomplishment. Last year’s version? Not so much. Numerous poor asst coaching hires, personnel decisions, and irrational play calling. I’ve posted a lengthy list elsewhere.
Second, while the injuries were devastating, they were not the ONLY reason for ‘22 futility. Poor decision making compounded the difficulties to the point that a defending SB team finished 5-12, worst in history. I WISH that the injuries were the only ‘22 problem.
The injury calamities of last year are unlikely to repeat, and it is my hope that the 2017-2021 McVay is back in charge for this season. His OC hire is gonna give us a big clue.
