I had this hire early and some questioned it, but I was amazed of the job Daboll did with Josh Allen and felt he could turn around Daniel Jones because I liked Jones too Once the Giants hired Joe Schoen as their GM, I knew they were going Buffalo East in Brian Daboll would follow. Before Buffalo he was an assistant under Belichick & Saban and he came to New York driving a big Blue Truck before his press conference, it was amazing and just what the Giants needed.
Daboll did not want to call the plays, that is why hire hired Mike Kafka empowering the Andy Reid disciple and got lucky with the DC as he wanted to keep Patrick Graham, but Graham wanted to join Josh McDaniels, so when Don "Wink" Martindale became available Daboll pounced on him, which was a great hire. All in all, Daboll was a perfect fit in New York and I thought it would take a year, but they believed in their coach plus Jones & Barkley were finally healthy. No doubt he's coach of the year and IMO, fit is important when you're hiring a head coach and Brian Daboll was the perfect fit in New York.
