The sound on the Sony was nice, and I liked some of the features, but if the stupid thing shuts off constantly, its worthless to me.. In my case, I have to unplug it for 20 minutes to be able to use it again.. and I lose video and have to restart the DVD to find our spot where we left off.. Once a movie is pathetic, but every 5-10 minutes means the Sony gets a good two hammer death..
Like I said, my 20 year old Nakamichi kicks the Sony's butt clear out of the water - at ear splitting volume - and never has shut off once.. I mean, literally "lose your hearing permanently" volume and has never once shut off.. Oh, if I could only put current features into that 20 year old unit that was built when quality and durability and reliability meant something ... Unfortunately they don't make AVR's anymore, or I'd get another one..
Anyone familiar with NAD AVR's?
