I don't know if that's a bad thing '89. The Pats are known for not signing too many players to big contracts and have done pretty well.
They have both Brady and Bellichick.
Any team that wants to imitate them without having Brady AND Bellichick is going to fail.
Once they have both Brady and Bellichick, teams can then scrimp on talent if they want.

Hopefully, the Rams aren't delusional and believe they can mimic the Pats blueprint.
So far, it is rather questionable the way the Rams handle keeping their best players.
One thing that bothers me is how the Rams show excitement over signing lesser players like Austin, Ogletree and Barron to overpaid contracts.
