In two of the three games he played, he had a QB rating of 50. Yet, once he replaces Wentz at the end of the season....he is suddently back to being the Miracle Worker.by chunkmeister - RamsFootballFans.com
Outside of AD......It's almost a given with the Rams D it takes the third or fourth defender to the ball carrier to take him down. Makes you wonder if the Wade and his staff practice/preach the fundamentals......or whether they focus all their time on scheme, and just expect the players to hone their own talent.by chunkmeister - RamsFootballFans.com
I know they claim he has practiced it.....but asking a punter to drop-kick an onside kick to save the season is a bit much to ask. How can you do that and accurately kick the ball only 10-15 yards?by chunkmeister - RamsFootballFans.com
Not once...but twice they got gift calls. The first one was a "pull back" from the hip barely past the 5 yard downfield line. You almost never see that called. The second was more incidental contact, where both the receiver and defender lost balance and went down. Both calls allowed the Cowpokes to extend the drive...eat clock...then eventually get the TD. The Rams WR's NEVER seeby chunkmeister - RamsFootballFans.com
And it probably relates to your "above the neck" comment. Reynolds shows a few flashes of reaching that "next level"....but at other times won't finish a play, or gets outplayed on a 50-50 ball. That said, he is bringing some Red Zone mojo that this team has badly needed. If he can bring more confidence to Goff inside the Red Zone....that is a great thing. Funny thing isby chunkmeister - RamsFootballFans.com
I was listening to NFL Radio who was interviewing Tim Brown. He said he and the rest of the Hall of Fame Alumni are all pulling big time for Bruce to get in.by chunkmeister - RamsFootballFans.com
Hard to argue that Goff should be much higher. Just look at if from a development standpoint. Last year Goff was #18. If someone told me before the year that Goff would finished the year ranked #8 in the league, I think I would have taken it and ran. The dude is 24 years old. With the exception of Mahomes.....all the other ones ranked higher than Goff are MUCH older. So Goff improved hisby chunkmeister - RamsFootballFans.com

If Gurley were unequivocally healthy, I would agree with you. But I get the sense that "something" is wrong with Gurley's knee to the point where the Rams need to put a strict limit on the amount of action he gets, in order to get through the playoff grind.by chunkmeister - RamsFootballFans.com
Perhaps one way will be to use Gurley on 1st downs, and any 2nd down where the distance is 4 yards or less, and 3rd downs where the distance is more than 4 yards. Then Use CJ on 2nd downs where distance is 5+ yards, and 3rd downs when distance is 4 yards or less. The logic here is that Gurley is far more potent as a receiver (vs CJ)....so let him do his damage on 1st down....or 2nd downs were tby chunkmeister - RamsFootballFans.com
I believe the segment was asking for each person to give their 2019 predictions. For a regular person that is an invitation to make a somewhat suprising statement. For Cowherd.....that is like giving him crack. He can't help but give outlandish, ridiculous predictions. However, to throw a little more salt in the wounds of Ram Fans....he actually said the 49ers would dominate the NFC West overby chunkmeister - RamsFootballFans.com
I understand in their first two drafts that there were so many other needs, that they could not afford to take a QB. They don't have as many pressing needs like they did three years ago. One would think with Snead's eye for talent and Mcvays eye for QBs, they could find a solid backup in round 3, 4, or 5. One that McVay can develop into being a potential solid starterby chunkmeister - RamsFootballFans.com
Here are reasons to be optimistic: - Second time in the playoffs, and having played several "prime time" games this year....this team should not come out of the gate as overwhelmed as they were last year. - The emergence of CJ Anderson allows the offense to keep an up tempo ground-and-pound game and can alernate CJ and Gurley as needed. Add in the possibility of the two tight endby chunkmeister - RamsFootballFans.com
Even when Gurley was playing(but playing hurt), it impacted Goff. Getting a healthy Gurley back....and also being able to bash CJ up the gut to soften the opposing defense down will be a great combo.by chunkmeister - RamsFootballFans.com
It's getting time for Wade to move on. Bowle's defenses at Arizona were top 10 in scoring both years he was DC. He runs mostly a 3-4....but has been known to switch to a 4-3 in certain situations.by chunkmeister - RamsFootballFans.com
OK....that statement is true for EVERY team. But, it is more relevant for the Rams defense. For this Rams team, turnovers seem to come in bunches. The Rams offense seems to be more productive in the red zone when they come of a turnover. The concerning thing about today might be that the Rams were +4 in turnovers, and never gave the Niners a short field to work with.....yet the Niners endedby chunkmeister - RamsFootballFans.com
It was the Cards....so we need to put a filter on these results. CJ showed great football smarts. His "waggle"really seemed to keep defenders on their heels. He is clearly not very fast....so I can't figure out why defenders seemed so perplexed. But in the end....it was all about CJ pounding through the first contact. One other item that came out of this game...and I have been aby chunkmeister - RamsFootballFans.com
NFL defenses had finally caught up to the Rams offense with their 3 wides and one RB. It started to become clear (particularly as Gurley was getting dinged up), that opposing defenses did not fear the Rams running game. So, they dropped their safeties deep....and it caused angst for the Rams offense. So...it was up to McVay to figure out how to counter that. Obviously, I would love to go on to win the Super Bowl. But if this team can at least win a playoff game, that would be a big step. That said, winning one playoff game, then getting bounced out would also be dissapointing, but if it came at the hands of that Saints in New Orleansin the NFC championship, I don't know how you can say McVay didn't get this team as far as he should. I haven't been able to keep up as I usually can lately. I can't tell whether Gurley has an injury that needs to be managed long-term, or whether he is just hurt and a little dingedright now. Which is it? Because there's a big difference on how you proceed moving forward.by chunkmeister - RamsFootballFans.com
And it starts with Wade. He needs to be locked in with all the position coaches to determine which of the talent can be "coached up" to take that next step. Is there any one single player on this defense that has vaulted themselves forward toward being an impact player? You might be able to argue Correy Littleton, however take away his plays on special teams.....his plays on defenseby chunkmeister - RamsFootballFans.com
I have to admit. Just observing Suh intermitently from afar (prior to his joining the Rams).....I thought he was a thug. But with him on the Rams, and having watched his interviews, he is a solid guy. Football is a mere step on what he has planned in life. He isn't the same player on the field he was four years ago. The team was in a death spiral when he took over....and remember they were winless last year. They probably won't make the playoffs....but Cleveland fans are mathematically still in it after December 15th. It has to be one of the more surprising turnarounds of a perennial loser since.....well...the 2017 Rams.by chunkmeister - RamsFootballFans.com
This team is incapable of throwing down the hammer on any opponent. They always let the opponent hang around. The Eagles got thumped by New Orleans....but they scratch and claw in most other games. Everything points to this being within 10 pts.by chunkmeister - RamsFootballFans.com
As things stand now....they will likely need to go NO.....then (if they win)....to Atlanta. With Talib back....the D unit is definitely playing better. It's a known fact that defense travels better than offense. Strange...but this Rams team could look ENTIRELY different in January....vs what we saw in September/October.by chunkmeister - RamsFootballFans.com
