It's a rock, paper, scissors league

December 26, 2018 10:04AM
NFL defenses had finally caught up to the Rams offense with their 3 wides and one RB. It started to become clear (particularly as Gurley was getting dinged up), that opposing defenses did not fear the Rams running game. So, they dropped their safeties deep....and it caused angst for the Rams offense. So...it was up to McVay to figure out how to counter that. Going into 12 personnel and complimenting that with a POUNDING RB like CJ Anderson is a good counter. Now...can McVay add a few more wrinkles out of that formation to leverage it further?

As others have pointed out, with Everett being a receiving mismatch for many defenses......he would be a good option if the defenses start to overload the box. Also with Woods being forced to have played the slot (when Kupp went out), he can be moved around in that offense.

Nothing would make me happier than watching the Rams go hurry up and repeatedly pound Anderson against a winded defense.
