And it starts with Wade. He needs to be locked in with all the position coaches to determine which of the talent can be "coached up" to take that next step. Is there any one single player on this defense that has vaulted themselves forward toward being an impact player? You might be able to argue Correy Littleton, however take away his plays on special teams.....his plays on defense are not stellar. He racks up a bunch of tackles....but most of them are 10-15 yards downfield. Johnson is a solid player....but he was solid last year and hasn't taken the next step up. Joyner, Westbrooks, Ebukam are young and were potentially poised to elevate to that next level. But no progress there either. Aside from Donald, the rest of the starters are mostly veterans....all of which are not playing anywhere near their previous years' production.
Face it. This defense has no identity. The strategy seems to be to try to contain the opposing offense long enough until Donald can eventually make a big play. Wade is a nice guy. But....it's time to retire.
