Yeah, Long is a big x-factor there. It would be great if he could just step into a bigger role but he's played a little over 200 snaps in two seasons. Not sure he is any more than their 4th CB.by LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
I think anytime you have two very good starters at a position it's hard to call it a huge 'need.' Similar to WR. But CB would obviously make sense if the value is there somewhere. And I could see that possibly being as high as 57 overall. Who knows. Burgess can play slot- as Johnson did sometimes this year. And maybe Long can take over as the CB3. But then, maybe not. And maybe Morris will prby LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
Yeah, I agree. I just don't think he's their future guy at LT. I wouldn't call him a bust because he was the 89th pick in the Draft and has given them 15 starts and will be a valuable backup this year. But other than maybe paying him a one-year deal to come back as depth I don't see him returning in 2022.by LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
I think Noteboom showed well overall last year coming off that 2019 injury (and considering the truncated 2020 offseason program and cap). He was ok, not a liability. And he's now played over 1,000 snaps over the past two seasons. I'd love to see him get a full offseason (OTAs, camp, preseason games) and it can only help him. He's a quality 3rd tackle in my opinion. But is he more? What if heby LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
Reynolds won't factor in so seems pretty clear they will end up with a 3rd rounder (Holmes), 4th (Johnson) and three 6ths in 2022.by LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
Simply a matter of if he can stay on the field. A Reggie Scott 2021 pet project. Maybe the fountain of youth will show up with him coming home to LA and reuniting with McVay. Or maybe he's IR'd/released in late August...by LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
Signing Jackson doesn't do much for me. At 34 and coming off two years where he only played 8 games total I would hope there is not a lot guaranteed in the deal. Let him to come to camp and compete for a spot. Fine. And maybe they could manage his pitch count in camp and during the season and he really could contribute. It looks like the Eagles were still trying to play him 35+ snaps per game theby LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
Teams rarely have quality OL past their top 7. Right now the Rams 2nd unit OL- Noteboom, Evans, Shelton, Anchrum and Brewer- could be a real quality group. Anchrum and Brewer especially really need OTAs and a full camp and preseason in my opinion. And ideally they draft a center that has true starting potential. But that OL depth is looking good.by LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
David Andrews deal with Patriots is pretty modest. Hard to see Blythe getting more.by LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
Yeah, at this point seems like they don't really need to cut him necessarily to fit their salary cap issues. So maybe it's just going to be him vs. Shelton vs. Draft pick TBD for a backup role behind (presumably) Blythe. I would give him 20/80 odds right now to be on the week 1 roster but who knows. Again if he packed on about 12 more lbs. to his frame and was much stronger it would solve a lot oby LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
In 2019 that seemed to me to be his biggest issue. Just could not hold up in the middle vs big, strong guys. Stood up and pushed back in short yardage over and over again. It was not his intellect of knowing what to do or ability to move or aggressiveness. Just too small and not strong enough. Now, could that be improved? Sure. Another 12 lbs on him and noticeably better strength and he couldby LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
I agree, that's the preference. Won't stop them from drafting another CB if value presents itself. But perhaps some combination of Long and Burgess (plus Rapp) in nickel and dime packages is the way they go. Having to lose Johnson and Hill stinks. But they are returning 7 of their top 9 DBs plus developmental guys like Reid, Gervase and Hughes.by LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
I tend to agree. They have seemingly done enough cap-wise to get them through 2021. I think the ideal thing would be to play as is this year and then do an extension next winter (1-3 years).by LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
I am typically not against investing $$ in a center in most years. It's the 2nd most important position on an OL. Arguably the most important, actually. But between the realities of their 2020 cap situation and the fact you can get good centers in the 2nd-5th rounds I think it's worthwhile to keep Blythe around while trying to find that guy in the Draft.by LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com

The 11 Personnel podcast talked about this a bit, saying restructuring Stafford is one of those "in case of emergency break glass" things. Their preference is to get into extension discussions later this year.by LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
Every year, we here at Football Outsiders study failed completions around the league. A failed completion is any completed pass that fails to gain 45% of needed yards on first down, 60% on second down, or 100% on third or fourth down. In 2020 (among 36 ranked QBs) Stafford ranked 12th best and Goff 13th. They also look at defenses where, not surprisingly, the Rams were 2nd best at forcingby LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
I know this has been said a lot. But she really does know her stuff. I liked Vinny B. as a beat writer but he was a little bit of a cheerleader. Jim Thomas was good for reporting 'facts' but that's about it. While she takes a supportive and positive spin, she's analytical and insightful in ways most beat writers are not. The podcast with Rich Hammond really is a must listen (the latest one thby LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
Josh Reynolds played 27 percent of the snaps as a rookie in 2017. Given the type of situational player they need, if they are willing to use, say, a pick in the range of 88 or 104 or slightly later on a WR I do not see why they would be hesitant to play him. They need a WR to give them about 15 snaps per game, not 40. Plus the fact that Woods, Kupp and Jefferson, none burners, can all get deeby LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
I think that is absolutely right. And again Blythe is NOT a liability. He is a decent starter who you COULD upgrade from. And add in that upgrading the backup center spot with someone who has a better shot to start later in is very important. Keeping Blythe one more year while drafting a better quality prospect than Allen is fine by me. Like in other position groups, their cupboard is hardlyby LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
88 vs 101 is notable.... good news.by LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
I believe they can get bumped upward a bit based on playing time. The comp picks formula is held pretty closely to the vest. But I do not think performance like Pro Bowls or whatever factors in. It is really mostly based on average annual salary of the contract.by LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
Could very well be true. A CB even as high as 57 would not surprise me of the value is there. Certainly you would think somewhere for sure. But to me THE big question to solve is what David Long is or is not. If he is ready and capable of handling a bigger role on defense then the need is noticeably less.by LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com

540+ special teams snaps the past 3 years. I do wonder how much of his new deal is guaranteed, though. I think finding another good blocking TE could still be on their radar.by LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
