We run the old Shanahan/Denver run blocking scheme that favors mobile guys who can stay on their feet and get angles quickly on their targets, and it allows for smaller OL who can be had outside of early rounds. Brown's a solid lineman, he has some mobility, but he's not ideal for what we do IMO. He isn't a technician type OL with quick hands, he's not great in pass pro, etc. He's a good kidby merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
He's a competitor, and used to being a big reason why we win. He made some great pickups on the rush, but yeah that isn't enough for him. Agree he's upset and is going to come out with everything in the next game. Oh and the game being in his Georgia back yard helps too. :thumbsupby merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
Because if the Rams get that run game going Goff will absolutely shred their secondary. Belichick has zero choice but to focus on the run game first then adjust from there. So IMO look for McVay to involve Gurley in a lot of underneath routes and screen actions early on to try to scheme him open in space. I also expect him to repurpose that dual screen the Saints ran against us in the NFC chby merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
Whatever you say Jerry Jones. :thumbsupby merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
The loss of Kupp was profound for Jared Goff. Since he went down there is only one game where Goff looked good and that's the KC matchup where I don't think the defensive gameplan fully accounted for the difference of Kupp being out. Every game thereafter our young QB just hasn't been the guy he was early this season. So with the stretch of tough defenses we faced I don't think McVay had a cby merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
That we get better safety play too in the next game if it happens. Talib seems to settle Joyner down a LOT as well. :thumbsupby merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
We didn't have Talib. We gave them a good game in their house with a secondary that was out of synch and had no answer for their top weapon. I agree we can beat them in New Orleans. Let's get that big W vs Dallas first though.by merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
After so much losing being here in the divisional round is something I'm not going to take for granted. Going to enjoy every minute of it even if we come up short. :thumbsupby merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
Rich Hammond tweeted that the prices start at $325. Lotta Cowboy fans will be there, it's just gonna cost them so here's hoping they spend a fortune and go home losers.by merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
There were four drives. Two of them he single-handedly stopped. A third he contributed key plays on getting them stopped. Not to mention him affecting the 9ers gameplan by forcing their QB to try to get the ball out fast enough to prevent him from getting his record, which resulted in a turnover-ridden early part of the game. His impact is profound, I mean look at the Rams' record when he's bby merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
It goes back to that first year and all the media idiocy in laying judgment on him right out the gate in a terrible situation. If you look at the first three years of ONLY the HoF level QBs, Jared Goff statistically is better than many of them already. Some of them didn't play in year one, most others didn't have a year of over 100 rating until much later than that window. Payton Manning forby merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
Kid is on his way to great things and has an opportunity to start his playoff legacy. There will come a day when a LOT of Rams fans wish they would have just relaxed and enjoyed an elite QB in his formative years.by merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
Certainly along the interior. Allen is going to be pushing for that center position in camp next year, and has looked good when he's been in there. I think the reason he's not challenging Sully yet is the expertise with which Sully makes those line calls but on the physicality side of things Allen's a brawler. Boom is certainly capable as a backup OG. Only non-replaceable dude on the OL isby merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
If the Rams can't get by the Cards & 9ers without TG they probably aren't going to go too far in the playoffs regardless of seeding. Their hopes from here on out are more related to defensive consistency than anything else. If the defense can make the required strides we'll win those two games and go into the playoffs with a healthy Gurley. If not, I still wouldn't want to risk our starby merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
Is different than the team they could have been with Kupp on the field. They can still win it all IF they do two things: 1. Get the defense on track. There are a lot of holes in the roster that opponents are taking advantage of. Defensively they need to improve the run defense (play of Barron's ILB position and Suh's NT position), and fix their secondary's inability to be on the same page (by merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
Is that he's not always a guy who adjusts quickly to what is new. In college he got his rear end handed to him his first year, then rebounded with a very nice window in which the program was rebuilt under him. In the NFL he got his rear end handed to him his first year, then rebounded with a very nice second year. In his first playoff game he got his rear end handed to him, and we're going toby merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
Whether he has or not, I don't know as I'm not going to watch that game again cannot do it. But the greater truth IMO (that Dilfer is missing) is that with Kupp on the field we could disguise things to look the same and run multiple things out of a simple look because the talent allowed McVay to run 11 personnel at a super high percentage. Right now we don't have the talent to do that and Mby merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
How running 11 personnel in a high 90s percentile was genius when McVay had the right personnel to force desired matchups? Remove Kupp, and now it's limiting in nature. Dilfer is right of course. But what he's missing is the impact of players. McVay does need to adjust now, but it's because he no longer has the guys to dictate matchups he wants for down/distance. Teams have not figured itby merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
They adjusted their outside zone to the inside and had some success here and there but the stuff rate was too high and that was compounding the other issues. Saying a team needs to give a guy 25 touches or whatever is fine and all, but in certain game situations that might not be true. When you get whipped up front for example. Truth is the Rams just got beat by a team that is talented andby merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
Voters will still vote in the same spirit of the award as it is now. If you want to fix it you simply add a QB award for the top performing passer, in addition to your suggestion.by merlin - RamsFootballFans.com

His take on Jared rubs me the wrong way as well. But I'm used to even the best takes on Jared coming with caveats, where inevitably McVay's brilliance needs to be mentioned or any other variable that is often overlooked with other top QBs. It's all good though. Jared's time in the limelight is coming and he's going to be there a long time.by merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
As Rams fans we have endured more than our fair share of poor seasons. Why add relegation to that? NFL I think has a better model, with a draft that has a lot of immediate impact when used correctly. But it also allows for fans of downtrodden teams to at least feel good around draft time. Relegation would crap all over that. I don't think it would work too well here.by merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
Don't worry about all the crowning BS. Let the media hype the new hot thing at QB, happens every year. Time is what is required to judge QBs and compare them, and if you look at the support system Jared has in place around him it's pretty clear he's a rising star that is going to be in that elite conversation for a loooong time. So stop and smell the roses. It's way more fun IMO to simplyby merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
That we'll let him go due to the defensive unit's production this season. But I suspect the Rams are smart enough to instead improve the defensive roster and move ahead with plus coordinators on both sides of the ball and an un-poachable staff.by merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
Yeah I can't disagree with your premise. Players do matter. Goff and that OL make him look good just like he does for them. It's a mutually dependent deal, no doubt. But to take that thought further... If you were to split up head coaching responsibilities you'd have something like this... 1. Schematic excellence. The X's and O's, gameplanning, giving players an edge. 2. Teaching. Geby merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
I make a mental note of avoiding their products. One of the worst I've ever seen man. So grating.by merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
Chiefs have the edge certainly. But the Seahawks run the ball well, which is KC's weakness, well one of them. I don't think KC will have much of an answer defensively, so it's probably going to look a lot like the Seahawks/Rams matchups of this season, where Seattle makes it an ugly game and have a chance to win it at least. IMO the Seahawks' defensive style is a nice fit for where this leagby merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
You'll see that under McVay the front office immediately added a LT and settled down the OL, as well as added wideouts who can play in this offense. Compare that to Fisher undoubtedly pushing the Rams front office to sign Tavon Austin, or Mark Barron, or Alec Ogletree. Basically under Fish players who were "his guys" were rewarded with contracts. Under McVay guys who fit the schemeby merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
Goff's a tall guy with great vision in the pocket. Has light feet for quick adjustments in the pocket and a good sense of surroundings. Strong arm and can make every throw with good touch. Quick memory with sacks and pressures. He is the prototype right now for a pocket QB in today's NFL. Basically he's Tom Brady 2.0 to my eye at least.by merlin - RamsFootballFans.com
