Found this interesting--in 2021 on dropbacks out of empty formations Stafford 26/36 76.7% comp 348 yrds 9.7 YPA, 8.9 DOT Goff 10/15 66.7% comp 59 yrds 3.9 YPA, 4.5 DOT Terribly small sample size. Team/coaching/schedule differences. But man, this really hits me as the difference between Stafford and Goff. Goff has a lower ypa than depth of target...Goff is the ONLY Qb in theby rampage666 - RamsFootballFans.com
Oh lord. Rams controlled him. Welcome to football in 2021. Good Qbs with weapons get a lot of yards. Defense played great. Just stop blitzing great qbs.by rampage666 - RamsFootballFans.com
Dude is a great coach and leader. Much respect.by rampage666 - RamsFootballFans.com
Watched this cat at Clemson a good bit. Always thought his change of direction and agility was poor. Supposedly he had a sub 7 3 cone. But man watching him play he looks completely straight linish and takes time to get to speed. The Gruden/Mayock Raiders are one of the worst drafting organizations I have ever seen. This Muse dude was a 6th rounder or later in my mind. Hard pass.by rampage666 - RamsFootballFans.com
Make sure to read Ted Nguyen's articles. He does film review work. Just did a piece on how the Rams defense under Staley played a 'gap and a half' front. I always learn more about football reading Ted's articles.by rampage666 - RamsFootballFans.com

"He's tough, he's a winner.." -Campbell Watch the Miami game. Good Grief. Goff is a bottom tier NFL qb. If everything is perfect and the opponent has not specifically game planned for Goff he can succeed.by rampage666 - RamsFootballFans.com

Also, if you hit on a Center or ILB in the draft vs a CB/OT the cap savings on the rookie deals matters less. Imo, drafting non premium positions with premium(2nd and 3rd rounders) picks is poor strategy.by rampage666 - RamsFootballFans.com
I voted "other". Cb is the position most in need of talent. Top two CBs are set with Ramsey and Williams. Third CB(basically a starter) is David Long. Good pedigree, loads of potential, but unproven. Yes, Burgess can play the slot but we are going to need him at Safety. Regardless depth is an issue and we should add to it while developing a replacement for Williams. I'm looking forward to playing versus whatever rookie they get. Makes the Stafford compensation seem very cheap. Wonder how close they were to offering similar for Stafford.by rampage666 - RamsFootballFans.com

Ya, i agree with that statement--two year deal.by rampage666 - RamsFootballFans.com
He has a 2023 dead cap hit of 7 mil. This is in my opinion a two year deal. He saves 12 mil on the cap if cut in 2023. All according to Spottrac. I didnt like the deal at first, but I think it is fine now. Floyd is widely recognized as having a career year but I believe his impact to the team defense is undervalued by most. Resigning him was definitely the best option the Rams had and they paby rampage666 - RamsFootballFans.com
If there was any possible player move I would not want to see it would be Watson to the Niners. Shanahan with an elite QB would be very annoying.by rampage666 - RamsFootballFans.com
Was watching that PFF show and the host mentioned how Donald creates compensatory picks. First with Fowler and now, likely, with Floyd by allowing them to get sacks. Sacks make money. But Donald is the fulcrum, or the creator of their ability to generate those sacks, which get them paid/sought after. Wanted to share as I find that concept quite interesting. Could olines create for RBs, QBsby rampage666 - RamsFootballFans.com
Choosing the Lawrence side of a possible trade over the Watson side is complete insanity. Watson is a proven top-5 QB. His deal is fine. Probably a bargain if you look at the cap hits in 2024 and 2025. If I'm the Jags--hell yes I am interested in dealing Lawrence for Watson. If I'm the Texans I definitely want more than just the #1 overall. What if the Texans can trade Watson for the #1 overalby rampage666 - RamsFootballFans.com
I would disagree with McVay wanting another to completely run the defense. McVay through the hiring of McConnell has someone to do the majority of the work of running the offense. My thought here is that McVay wants to be invested in the defense and special teams--moving from more of an individual contributor role(running offense) to a managerial role(overseeing and enhancing the offense, defby rampage666 - RamsFootballFans.com
I looked at the individual plays that the Rams ran on in the 3rd and 8 or more situation. Of the 12 runs--9 were in one score games, 3 in two score games(Rams up 10, 10, 11). On 9 of the runs we were in the lead. Game situation might be the key here. If McVay has trust issues in Goff, they come in these tight game situations. The most appalling runs are the ones when we are in field goal rangeby rampage666 - RamsFootballFans.com

QuoteBearlyThere So based on these two sources, is there a definitive conclusion? 1. Stafford > Goff on 3rd and 8+ Yes. And more versatile. Able to accomplish the goal in a more ways. 2. Goff is no good on 3rd and 8+ (or at least wasn't in 2020) He was surprisingly good,at least to me, in 2019. With Goff I see the key as how long does he take to throw the ball. I looked at the last three seasons--2020, 2019, 2018. 3rd down and 8 or more yards to gain. No 2 min plays. With Qbs with at least 25 dropbacks in this situation--total QB seasons was 104, so 3 years at 32 QB starters = 96, I think 25 is a fair threshold. A professional QB without the ability to even contest Cover 0 is a joke. Goff was totally lost, ineffective, and down right embarrassing in Dolphins game. The juke fumble vs Seahawks and both the brain dead roll pass for INT and the Inc one (that was the same play) iced it. I have zero faith in Goff to ever be consistently non terrible, Before games I would hope that Goff wouldnt lose the gameby rampage666 - RamsFootballFans.com
they are open to talking about a deal. I think we can all agree that given the current oline and Goff that we aren't winning any championships with the status quo. To win a championship you have to be able to beat Man 1 coverage on 3rd and 7+ under pressure. We can't do that. Brady can. Rodgers can. Mahomes can. McVay and Snead are quite forward thinking to me. They have no problem dealinby rampage666 - RamsFootballFans.com
Watson is a legit top five QB who can carry the team. The Qb is so much more important to a team's chance of winning than any other position. Donald is one of the ten best players, regardless of position, but switching Goff for Watson would improve the team. As a fan, I would have very mixed feelings but the decision is clear.by rampage666 - RamsFootballFans.com
Dk is exactly what everyone who evaluated him thought he was--a very straightline fast and huge wr. Metcalf will excel on go routes, skinny posts, slants. Anything that requires change of direction will not be his game. Part of what makes him great makes him limited. His size limits his ability to drop his hips and explode in and out of breaks--which limits his lateral movement. Metcalf iby rampage666 - RamsFootballFans.com
