Terribly small sample size. Team/coaching/schedule differences.
But man, this really hits me as the difference between Stafford and Goff. Goff has a lower ypa than depth of target...Goff is the ONLY Qb in the league with negative air yards--yards before the catch/total passing yards. The next lowest QB in Roethlisberger at 25%.
I think to myself maybe Goff is throwing alot of screens--or passes behind the line of scrimmage. So he threw 2 screens out of empty. Removing those screens his stats:

16.7% Air Yard %--yards before the catch / total passing yards
16.7% Air Yards is the lowest in the league. Next lowest is 39.3% with Roethlisberger. Staffford is 12th at 69.4%.
Again super small size but something seems very broken about Goff. Real happy we have Stafford. What a stud.
