When Deacon and Merlin played side-by-side, they had so many stunts and moves between them that oposing tackles or guards didn't know who to block. Remember that so-called ghost move from Von in the Bills game? He moved behind everybody else and attacked the gap at the center of the OL. That reminded me of the Deacon, or sometimes after a double-stunt at the line, Merlin doing the same thing.by mtramfan - RamsFootballFans.com
Williams is still a kid - has room for his trunk to thicken. If he eats his Wheaties and does his pushups he might be able to put on another 15 - 20 pounds. Note the girth of his thighs in the photos. Looks like he's already put on some muscle, and has room to add more. We'll see what the training staff does with him. As of today I'm glad they re-signed Brown. We'll see what he does in hisby mtramfan - RamsFootballFans.com
The article misses two salient points: One, (as was demonstrated on the second video) when the pocket collapses, Stafford has to get rid of the ball quick. Two, if the defense is playing (however configured) to rush the passer and cover deep routes, effective running plays cah succeed for more yards than checkdown passes close to the line of scrimmage. In other words, solid O line play in theby mtramfan - RamsFootballFans.com
... were they vetting him out or negotiating a cost, was the signing of Ragas a put-in-place backup measure until Brown's deal was secured? Only Les and his shadow knows... He can be that thumper running back who will get three to maybe seven yards, more if he's lucky, a good share of the time when we need it. When a wheel comes off or the engine starts to sputter, here comes our pit crby mtramfan - RamsFootballFans.com
True that - that was Warner, pre-injury. Team-wise, that was then, this is now.by mtramfan - RamsFootballFans.com
I read the article and won't copy quotes here. It mentions Goff's effectiveness with play-action, which we've since abandoned. Who was Goff's running back? It also mentions how many passes, how many interceptions, etc. Stafford has thrown. I hate to sound like a tin drum (almost) but some decently solid O line play and a thumper running back would enable Stafford to do his thing - when heby mtramfan - RamsFootballFans.com

... we have about a 3TD lead in the first half and the game is in the bag (tongue stretches cheek like a baloon about to burst) just like we did against the Falcons. Then, if he didn't jump from unprepared to game speed we could blame him for a loss. Much as I'm itching to see my Montana players (Hardy, McCutcheon) on the field, I have to say "not yet." I think you can count on any rookie to make some rookie mistakes. Occasionally there's a rookie cornerback who makes more plays than mistakes, and Durant now appears to be one. He's fast, he's always around the ball, and appears to play bigger than his measurements. He seems to be a willing tackler with sound technique - judging from camp and college footage. If he can play consistent footballby mtramfan - RamsFootballFans.com

I had hoped I'd see some whiteboard magic and radical adjustments on both sides of the ball at halftime to put us in a solid position to win. I didn't see it. The Bills are built to stomp just about any team in the league, except a few. So are we.by mtramfan - RamsFootballFans.com

Aww, no... he's not dumb. He's wired pretty tight, and is being asked to do a lot - I think too much - in this defense. I think he's overwhelmed at times, not dumb.by mtramfan - RamsFootballFans.com
I hope so too: Final game of the season, after we've spent the first three-four games as a pre-season warmup and have all the bugs worked out. Both teams at full strength, mano a mano.by mtramfan - RamsFootballFans.com
Favre was great and I enjoyed watching him but of the two I'd rather have Stafford in his prime than Favre. That's before we get to character. I still want the guys I watch on Sunday to be decent human beings, if not heroes. I can say of Stafford: here's a man whose private life and family are important to him, whose good-bye to his former home and team in Detroit came from a place of personaby mtramfan - RamsFootballFans.com
From what very little I've seen, I have to ask: is Kolone really ready to take over from Shelton yet? How is he at calling out blocking assignments? Harmony with QB @ snap? From what I read here his post-snap blocking is up to speed, but that's not all of it. He needs to prove himself consistent. I seem to recall him during camp flinging the ball over the QB's head while in the gun instead ofby mtramfan - RamsFootballFans.com
Warner was a bit like that too. More than a bit, actually. He'de go on an interception streak and then end it, like a perimeter shooter whose shots start falling in. Both he an Stafford are gunslingers, accurate, and built to attack a defense. Not just once, but relentlessly. Stafford of the two tends to force things, I thinkl, probablydue to having to force everything when he was with the Liby mtramfan - RamsFootballFans.com
I didn't see the game and the highlights don't do anything as far as conveying the flow and dynamics of the game are concerned. While watching the Bills game it was obvious to me in a lot of plays, one-time through on TV, that Donald and Gaines were being boxed in 3-on-2, and when spread, Donald still got the 3. while Gaines got 1:1. On one play that Jim Youngblood posted, Gaines was making aby mtramfan - RamsFootballFans.com

I hope the coaches have the guys well-rehearsed, particularly the Oline remix, and ready to play football when they come out, AND that the game plan works without too many adjustments. This team may facing a wakeup: Every team they face is going to be jacked up sky-high ready to out-hit, out-tackle, and outscore the Super Bowl Champions. We'll see what that means tomorrow. Maybe the wrong word choice on my part; but what you told us out of your familiarity with him and hopes for him speaks volumes more than the stat-pap I found elsewhere. I watched him use blocks well, accelerate through holes with some burst, show decent lateral movement, and step out of tackles in the highlight tape - confirmation of what you said. I have a bit of that same bias myself forby mtramfan - RamsFootballFans.com
Seems to be a trend, don't it? Rivers, according to recent stats (if they're not blown up) is around 205. Still not a Henry, but the thick thighs and arms in the still at the beginning of his highlight video seem to confirm that. He's young enough and apparently has frame enough to add some weight if the trainers and coaching staff think a heavier Rivers would be an ideal playing weight. Hby mtramfan - RamsFootballFans.com
"Only people complaining about TNF last night are the ones who didn't get to see it." Exactly. And that's the problem. My wife bnought Prime some time ago and we've considered dropping it. We don't watch that much TV. I remembered that she had Prime and so tuned in about the middle of the third quarter for Thursday's game. I was thinking the saame thing as I watched:"Well, there's a blueprint for playing the Rams - on both sides of the ball." Two examples: Aganst our D, triple on Donald (I seemed to see that all night long) and let the other 8 players play short, sharp, and crisp. When Donald and Gaines were playing tight, it was three-on-two. IN spread foirmations, 1:1 on gaines and still - three on Dby mtramfan - RamsFootballFans.com
I looked in a couple of other places that have him at 5'9" and around 205. He's built solid and well muscled up, and still a kid - maybe room for more poundage. The trainers can determine that. I think he'll be OK - as good as what we have, and more of a bowling ball back.by mtramfan - RamsFootballFans.com
