The face mask by Tomlinson was one of the dirtiest and dangerous plays I have ever seen in the NFL. I rank it just below the one by the Packers on Jim McMahon in 1986. That is a puzzling article. The Rams never had a top QB throughout most of the 70s, 80s, and 90s. If they had had one in the 70s, they might have won multiple Super Bowls. 1. Prior to getting injured, Beckham was well on the way to being the best player on the field in that game. 2. There is no reason for him to feel that something was taken away from him. The Rams wouldn't have gotten to the Super Bowl without his contributions late in the season. While growing up near water, I fished kids out of the water three times. Two of them were brothers who dove in and hit their heads (on different occasions). For the other incident, I was in the first grade and didn't yet know how to swim. A kid got out out over his head and started to go under. The vast majority of broadcasts from before the dawn of the VCR age (around 1977) are lost forever. Some Rams games from before 1977 survive, but only a handful. Other than Flipper Anderson, the 1988 draft was a disaster for the Rams. They were loaded with draft capital from the Dickerson trade and just plain blew it. If they had made the right moves, they might have been in a position to win a Super Bowl and field a good team well into the 1990s. The Rams championships were in 1945, 1951, 1999, and 2021. There were only 10 teams in 1945 and 12 teams in 1951. We now have 32 teams, which means that a team would be expected to win a championship every 32 years on average. There were gaps of 48 and 22 years between the Rams' most recent championships. Doubt if it will happen, but potentially the best move the Rams could make would be to trade Aaron Donald in order to acquire sufficient capital to make a move to get their future QB.
